Happy Hallowe’en

I didn't dress up, wasn't feeling overly creative this year. I could probably have done a decent Wolverine hairdo though, as the locks are getting done. We had no trick 'r' treaters this year, we seldom do as we live in a house that could be considered haunted and strange based on our location in a park and being kind of out of the way it has that mysterious feel about it. This year there was very little new under the sun, with the exception of one thing… Hallowe'en music. I am surprised I have never thought of it before, but now that I have a Napster subscription I find all kinds of cool music to listen to. It started with a craving to see the movie Halloween again. John Carpenter's masterpiece is still a scary flick and one of the earliest forms of the slasher flick. One of it's best features is the Carpenter written theme, an intense piano piece that is really driving and very creepy. I looked into downloading the theme and discovered a whole disc of Carpenter music and it is all pretty dang good with some great eerie undertones. Upon finding that I found a disc of themes from Hammer horror films (a British production company from the 60's/70's that made schlocky horror flicks) and another of themes from films like the Omen and the Exorcist. Some seriously ominous music and totally awesome to listen to while playing 360 or writing a sermon or bible study. Interesting to me is that all of it is sort of a classical instrumental style which almost gives it a more reverent feel than most Christmas music you find. I must admit though, I have fallen away from a lot of modern Christmas shlock (twice in one post, not bad huh?) and stick to the older, more peaceful Christmas tunes. I guess have to start listening to that now that All Hallows is over. J
