Up songs

OK, so I have thought about do this feature for a while now so its about time I acted on it.

I was thinking a while back about the perfect car CD, the perfect playlist of songs that would always be cool to listen to, always be exciting. Now I know that this is impossible in the sense of being played over and over again. No song can withstand being played ad infinitum, but within reason I would like to try and put together a playlist over the coming weeks through a feature I will call Up Songs.

Lyrics have nothing to do with it, neither does tune really, more the overall feeling of a song is what I am looking for. When I listen to it does it make me feel good? Do I get excited to hear it? Am I tempted to hit repeat right as its over? Those are the kinds of songs I mean. Some you will know. Some you will not. Some are simply nostalgicfor me personally and remind me of up times, but hopefully they will make you feel the same way.

Ultimately the purpose of this is to give you a chance to hear positive sounding, catchy tune, that'll make your day a bit better. It will cross a lot of genres but all will have the same purpose... to make you happy. Where possible I will include the music video.

So here is number 1 on the playlist (and these arent in any kind of importance order)

Word of Mouth by Mike & the Mechanics

Mike Rutherford of Genesis formed this band as a side project (I think, my music history is rusty and I am too lazy to check) and they cranked out a few Up Songs. This one is one I had forgotten about and feels like a gem I got back today when I heard it in the car. It is what got me off my butt to do this feature. Hope you like it.

Are you familiar with the How I Met Your Mother episode (the New Year's Eve one from season one) with Barney's all-rise mixtape?

"People say a mix should rise and fall, but I say, why can't it be all rise?"

You know, it is very possible that episode is what got the train of thought rolling for me and I just forgot the episode over time because C and I watch it all the time. So this is my all rise mix...
