So I know this may come as a bit of a shock to some of you... but I never watched Seinfeld when it was first on. Part of me thought it was dumb, part of me just didnt have time for another sitcom. I repent, I should have watched it back in the day. Candace and I have been watching through the seasons and I must admit it easily ranks up there with the best comedies of all time.
I find it crazy how many of the episodes, whether through phrases, siuations, or well anything, have made it into our modern culture. As I watched the episode "The Muffin Tops" I found myself wondering if one of the writer's is kicking themselves for letting that idea go as Muffin Tops are now something you can buy in the store (not to be confused with Muffin Pants by the way). Which came first I wonder? If the show first coined this idea that is pretty freakin amazing as the worlds of comedy and baking seldom have such a huge impact on each other. Not since the cream pie fight phase of comedy anyway.
The characterizations are genuine and honest, and I think if we are truthful with ourselves there is more of Jerry, Elaine, George, and Kramer in us than we might like to admit. What we think they said out loud, the situations they get themselves into reflect our own preposterous stories that cannot be retold but must be lived.
So there it is, I am lovin Seinfeld. And now if you'll excuse me I have to put on my puffy shirt and head out to do some dancin'
Sweet fancy Moses!

The danger now is that you start using sienfeld quotes from 10 years ago in your sermons :)
It's not the sermons I am that worried about... its everyday life! Few quotes are deemed sermon-worthy anyway. ;) That's a shame.
