OK, I feel a rant coming on. I was at the mall today trying to find a few things (and I didn't which is a rant for another day!) and on my way out I saw a woman pushing a cart from ToysRUs loaded up with the Princess Cozy Coupe, a small ride-in car made for little girls or young boys who are secure in their masculinity. That I know in and of itself is not all that big a deal. It was the picture on it that got me going. I nearly laughed and yelled in horror simultaneously when I saw it, it looked like this…
Do you see it? You do don't you. Please tell me you see that the Little Tike in this particular picture is driving the toy car and TALKING ON A FRIGGIN TOY CELL PHONE! Back at the office I looked it up. This is not merely an illustration of a kid at play, this thing come with a cell phone AND a convenient in car holder. How in the blue blazes does a product like this make it on the market!?! Seriously, what the hell!?!
Hey kids! Now you too can drive around your neighborhood cutting people off, running stop signs, and generally acting oblivious just like your stupid parents who bought you this blight on humanity. Jimmy next door getting you down? No problem, just phone him on your toy cell phone and then run over him as he plays ball hockey with his friends in their driveway! Afterwards you can plead ignorance and that he just "ran out in front of you" and that it wasn't your fault. And guess what? When you grow up you can have a real car with a real cell phone and be a jackass just like Mom and Dad! Learn to desensitize yourself to people yelling at you from all sides!
Given that in BC (not sure if it is all of Canada) you can now get a ticket if you are caught on your cell while driving this thing just baffles me. The lady with said offending toy looked like a grandma. Well, guess what? If you were my kid's grandma you be haulin your butt back to the store. Of course it would probably be safer if I did it, because if she did she'd be calling her friends and telling them what a jerk her son or son in law was for making her take it back while some guy rolled over the hood of her car.

Andrew, just did some catching up on your blog. Don't stop by often enough. You capture life well in your words. You are insightful in both humorous and deep ways. Thanks for sharing on so many levels.

Andrew, sadley in my profession i see bad driver's everyday.i've seen many provinces and states being a long haul trucker, and BC has, by far, the worst driver's i've ever seen. I should be paid more for what i do.
that is truly appalling.
