More power to ya

I love the world of tech a lot. Last week was the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas and as usual I watched some of the highlights on the net and saw one technology that kind of blew my mind. Powermat to me is one of the most amazing leaps in tech since the cell phone. What is powermat? Well, the first demo I saw made my eyebrows raise in which a guy with a small adaptor hooked up to his cell placed it down on a mat... and it started charging from the mat. "Huh, that's cool.", I thought to myself. Then I saw the kitchen demo, similar the one below. I do apologize for the host of the video, he has a certain face-punchable quality to him, but I think the tech will speak for itself...

Yeah, you saw that. A mixer with no plug that just works when you put it on the countertop with ZERO risk of electric shock. More importantly no worrying whether you have enough outlets in the kitchen.

Now how about this... they showed a wall with the same technology built in that is also magnetized. Need a lamp in a certain spot? Stick it to the wall wherever you want to put it. No more wiring fixtures or being limited by pre-existing wiring. This is vry cool stuff. How about an entertainment centre where all you have to do is put a TV, computer, whatever down on it, and it works with no plug. You combine that with other wireless tech and we could soon see a home where all you have to do is put something, anything down where you want it, and it'll work. The TV will sync with the stereo and the game system or disc players. Man, what a cool world we live in.
