Today was indeed a quiet day. We hung out at home till 2 or so and then headed out to the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. It was a pretty nice afternoon to go to although I could have done without all the kids. Since we weren’t going to San Diego we treated ourselves to the behind the scenes tour, led by Diane, the socially awkward well rehearsed tour guide who almost needed cue cards she was so stiff. This was amplified by the fact that there was only the two of us on the tour. I tried joking with her a bit to get her to loosen up a bit but to no avail. Even at the end of the tour she “joked” (in the sense that she says this at the end of every single tour and comes across like she doesn’t know why it’s funny.) that I could call her Diane on the feedback form or Marie depending on whether or not I liked the tour. So I said, “ We enjoyed ourselves very much, thank you Marie.” There was a slight pause and then she gave me this weird look. I THINK she was rolling her eyes, but it came across more like a stroke. *sigh* The one very cool thing that they had at the aquarium was a Lorikeet forest full of these hilarious parrots. You can buy nectar for the birds and they land on you and feed. It wasn’t long before it took a Hitchcockian turn and Candace is covered in birds, it was pretty hilarious really. She looked very panicked, and little like she should break into a rendition of “Feed the Birds, tuppence a bag”. It was a lot of fun. After the aquarium we went home and hung out with Gary and Maggie for the evening, stopping at Carrows for supper and then onto a movie. The movie ended up being sold out so we picked up cheesecake and headed home to watch Patriot Games in HD. All in all a good day with not a lot going on. Tomorrow Korey and Heidi get here and I cannot wait! Medieval Times awaits, and maybe this time I wont get hammered accidently when I go.
