Who are you… who... who…?

So I did something very cool yesterday, I did something on a lark that I didn't honestly think would work… and it did.

Being a teacher, my wife has her share of troublesome students. A lot of times I get to hear little stories about them, some good, some very good, and well… some very sad because some people's children are just boneheads. Last night I got home from a meeting and Candace was marking. I sat down and she made a sound that I knew to be exasperation. She handed me a page and said, "Can you read the name under the scribble." I looked at it and could see there was a name underneath but couldn't read it. Apparently a kid had taken his buddy's work, scribbled out his name, and handed it in as his own. The paper had already been marked which in and of itself is suspicious… but Candace wanted to know for sure the kid had cheated. I don't know why I thought to do it , maybe because it would be fun, maybe I am in withdrawal from summer hiatus but I thought to myself, "I am gonna CSI this puppy."

So I took the page to the scanner, scanned it in and fiddled with the colour settings. Keep in mind I thought it totally wouldn't work but…. {cue CSI music montage}

I DID IT! I juggled a few saturation settings, and managed to pull out the pencil writing underneath the pen. I printed off a big version of my work and gave it to Candace to show the kid today. I wish I could show you my work but I cant because of child privacy issues, but if you have seen it on CSI… it looked just like that J

Nice, not every teacher is married to someone capable of such CSI tactics. That kid didn't know what he was getting into!
