Power Shoe!

So my wife and I have invented a new game. In the grand tradition of Punch Buggy, it is a game which involves physically punishing a person for being slow and not noticing this particular phenomenon.
Ever since I was a kid I have noticed it. I have always wondered where they come from and how they got there. Now that I am older I envision some individual has put them there in the middle of the night. I am speaking about the various pairs of shoes you see dangling from the power lines. I can’t be positive but this may be a lower mainland thing, so if you don’t know what I am talking about I am sorry for you, but at least now you will look. The thing is they occur about as frequently as old VW Bugs used to appear and serve as an excellent substitute. Additionally no one ever seems to cut the things down so there is an added strategy element to the game. I was out driving by myself the other day, and noticed a new set of shoes near where we get most of our groceries. I now know that when I drive there I can Power Shoe my wife, and that is the name of the game, Power Shoe.
Just like punch buggy, you shout Power Shoe at the top of your lungs at swat the person next to you as you go by. I have become quite adept at this game, coincidentally my wife isn’t speaking to me much anymore… I kid, she loves the game too. We feel like we invented something fun together, and now you can play too.

Right there? That is a huuuuuuge bruise waiting to happen...

I love it! I'm sure the phenomenon extends beyond the lower mainland, so I can't wait to start powershoeing. Actually, it kind of makes me want a pair of power shoes... sounds like they'd be pretty awesome.

The "phenomenon" actually started in broklyn in the 1970's iirc ...

When I was a kid, my friend and I made up all kinds of reasons to hit each other - we called one "Top Gun Airplane" (the smack followed an airplane sighting...)
I'm not proud of this.
Somehow "Power Shoe" is much better, since it doesn't happen 150 times a day.

Hey... I was once told that those shoes hanging on lines told people where they could come to get drugs. Maybe that's why there are so many in the lower mainland? ;oP - Mike

growing up the middle child of three boys, we loved the hitting game that ensued whenever we passed the road sign to "Killam", near Camrose..

I like the sign outside the town that says "Drive Safe - Killam"
