I got Worms....

My wife, some friends and myself went out to see The Arrogant Worms the other night. I wish I could give as stellar a review for them as I gave to Great Big Sea but it is really sticking in my craw that they did such a short show.
They were totally hilarious, I laughed a lot, just not for as long as I would have liked. The additional downside is that they were heavily plugging their new album, which I have yet to hear so it made it difficult to get into it and really sing along… etc. I wish I could count the number of times he said, “This one is off our new album.” Do I really need an intermission if your show is only an hour and a half? Or is it simply to make me feel like it was longer?
They played a few of my favorites, but as a fan of their repertoire I guess I am puzzled by a few of their choices. They did a few of the requisite well known tunes but I was puzzled by a couple of the choices which were not as funny as what they could have chosen. Fans of the Worms know that they have quite a number of well known songs and I know how many funny songs they have and yet as I think on it there are a few I find utterly forgettable.
I bought their second album while I was there, I have been looking for a copy for a while but Russell’s Shorts has proven to be difficult to find or just plain expensive. So for 15 bucks I got an album that I have long had on a copied tape and it has a bunch of my favs on it. Killer Robots from Venus is classic…
Anyhoo, I gotta say I walked away feeling a bit disappointed. Sure I laughed really hard but it felt like I was just getting going, like they were just getting going. Oh well, the evening wasn’t a total loss, I enjoyed my time out with friends a lot, I need to start doing that more because it felt so “grown up” to do that… :)

The intermission is there to sell more product, that's all...either that, or Mike had to medicate his groin :)

Hi honey,

I'm blogging! But not really sure what I'm doing.
